The Ultimate Stainless Steel Banding

Metal banding is used as a fixing system in insulation, construction and also in the sign industry. Here at BS Stainless, we specialise in the supply of high performance banding for all applications. All strapping at BS Stainless complies within the regulation standards and scope of ISO 9001:2015 management system.

Stainless steel comes in all shapes and sizes; each grade has different characteristics from corrosion rates to price of the product. Popular grades that we supply here at BS Stainless are 304/1.4301, 316/316L / 1.4404, 201/1.4372 other materials include aluminium alloy or galvanised steel which are also available from us here at BS.

The 304 and 316 banding and even the 201 are both visually the same, therefore distinguishing the difference between the grades can be difficult. The resources we have include equipment such as an S1 Sorter X-ray machine, this allows us to identify which grade of stainless steel they are manufacturing from and therefore ensures the customer is receiving a product that meets the specifications that they are in need of.

The 304 grade material is made up of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Additionally, this grade contains low levels of carbon compared to the 316, increasing the versatility of the stainless steel. The 316 is deemed to be more expensive than the 304, as this grade has higher corrosion resistance. This is because the 316 grade incorporates about 2-3% molybdenum, which increases the corrosion resistance of the steel, especially against chlorides and other industrial solvents. Grade 201 banding is most popular for sign banding, it has a much lower Nickel content but also incorporates manganese, the result is a particular good

Stainless steel sign banding is an ideal solution for various different situations.Grade 201 banding has a much lower Nickel content but also incorporates manganese. Common applications include fixing bins and signs to lampposts. The characteristics of this product include a light weight ‘easy’ to handle, individually boxed coil along with the strength, rigidity and corrosion resistance that represents great value and an ideal sign fixing solution. The stainless steel coils are supplied in grade 201 stainless steel which is none magnetic and offers corrosion resistance.

The 201 sign banding clearly has a different purpose than the 304 and 316 grade, as this grade of banding is used for securing signs. The 304 and 316 expand when heated, whereas the 201 grade is designed to hold objects together, therefore expanding in a warm climate would not be suitable for this grade. So whatever is important strength, corrosion resistance or longevity we have a banding solution for you.
