Stainless Steel Report Overview

London based International Steel Statistics Bureau (ISSB) have been gathering data on steel production and market development for many years. They collate information not just from the UK but on a worldwide scale.

Their latest reporting for the month of June has shown that globally, crude steel production has reached a new record in 2010 of 1.4billion tonnes. This is a 5% rise in the last peak and 15% above the levels for the previous year.

We have further seen the recovery of Stainless steel with 15.4 million tonnes being produced this meant there was a 21% growth on 2009. 4.4 million tonnes were exported and this was the highest quarterly level since 2008. Global demand has recovered, albeit with growth dominated by Asian producers.
