Introducing Anti-Bacterial Stainless Steel

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for proper hygiene has become more pressing than ever before. Though stainless steel has for many years been used in medical and catering environments due to the fact that it is an inherently hygienic material, the growing demand to prevent the spread of germs in many other applications and environments has meant that focusing on the further development stainless steel coatings has become increasingly important.

Stainless steel is renowned for its anti-corrosive properties. Its hygienic properties arise from the same reason: the 'passive layer'. This layer, comprising a thin coating of chromium oxide on the surface of the metal, is especially unreactive with other chemical elements.

BS Stainless is pleased to announce that we are now able to supply stainless steel materials that are highly effective at preventing the spread of viruses including COVID-19. The material is also effective against most common strains of bacteria such as MSRN, Micrococcus luteus, e-coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Our anti-bacterial stainless steel features a coating that includes integrated silver technology, helping to dramatically reduce the proliferation of bacteria. The coating has been designed with the use of advance silver ion leaching control and has been thoroughly and rigorously tested to show that it provides exceptional reduction in the amount of surface bacteria.

The anti-bacterial qualities of this innovative product remain unaffected by forming and cleaning. Keeping the material clean is easy thanks to its non-stain coating, which strongly resists fingerprints and other marks left behind by contact. Our anti-bacterial stainless steel has countless applications (including for kick and push plates on doors in frequent usage) in hospitals, kitchens, gyms, hotels, food production areas and many more.

We can supply stainless steel in various grades in sheet or blank form to exact customer requirements, though minimum quantities may apply.
