WIRE 2020 Exhibition Cancelled

The WIRE 2020 exhibition, which is one of the most important events on the stainless steel calendar, has officially been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled to run from March 30th until April 3rd, the event was first postponed until December before the cancellation was announced on October 30th.

The team at BS Stainless had already booked flights, designed our stand and made advanced preparations for the event. Our stand was booked in and we had even received the information that the stand number would be A13 and that we would be located in Hall 14.  As the WIRE event only takes place once every two years, it will be 2022 before we are able to exhibit again; needless to say, the team is extremely disappointed but obviously recognises the necessity for the cancellation.

The WIRE exhibition takes place in Dusseldorf which is in the same region as Erkrath, the location of our Central European Offices. This added an extra layer to our disappointment as our team had planned to visit these offices, which would have allowed us to forge closer links with our European colleagues.

As the UK's largest supplier of stainless steel wire, BS Stainless is an important delegate at the WIRE exhibitions, which our team have attended on several occasions in the past. Billed as 'the world's premier wire showcase', this year's WIRE event was set to welcome over 75,000 visitors and 1,200 exhibitors from more than 80 countries around the world. The exhibition and conference presents an ideal opportunity for networking and sharing information, which our team can then use to enhance our level of service and expand our product portfolio.

Commenting on the cancellation of WIRE 2020, the President and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH Wolfram Diener said: “Exhibitors and visitors can continue gathering information on the latest news from the industry as well as trends and product innovations on our online platforms. With this in mind we are constantly developing our digital content. The decision taken today is an event and industry-specific decision that does not affect the other events planned by Messe Düsseldorf. Based on the current state of affairs these will be held. We are in close contact with the authorities and partners of the respective trade fairs with whom we will re-assess the situation to then decide responsibly.”
