The Solution to Interior Corrosion

Metal jacketing is vulnerable to corrosion, a problem that can result in expensive, time-consuming replacement. When corrosion occurs on the interior surfaces of metal jacketing it is extremely difficult to detect until the problem becomes so severe that the metal is penetrated completely and holes become visible.

Due to the fact that the outside surface of the metal jacketing is where corrosion become visible it is usually assumed that corrosion of this type will have started on the outside. In fact, interior corrosion may begin to happen immediately after metal jacketing is installed, with holes taking six months or more to appear.

Once corrosion has caused holes to appear in metal jacketing there is no way to repair the damage and the only option is to replace it. This is an extremely costly process in itself and the downtime during such replacement adds even more cost. The best solution to interior corrorison - preventing it from happening in the first place.

BS Stainless provide a comprehensive collection of unique methods designed to prevent the myriad of issues caused by the interior corrosion of metal jacketing. One of these methods is the use of DryMet, a Surlyn-enriched moisture barrier created by BS Stainless.

DryMet features a laminated polyfilm which, factory-applied to the under-side of metal jacketing, prevents metal-on-metal contact and thus inhibits galvanic corrosion on the interior. The barrier is applied using our cutting-edge, purpose-built machinery and can be used in conjunction with a wide range of metals including aluminium, stainless steel, aluzinc, galvanised steel and aluminised steel (type 1 or 2).
