SoundMat is a vinyl acoustic barrier loaded with barium sulphate minerals as specified and used in ISO 15665 and can be used as an acoustic pipe wrap to all classes.
It has been designed to have high mass for effective acoustic pipe wrap applications. The product is free of lead, unrefined aromatic oils and bitumen. It has very good resistance to mineral oils, greases, weak acids and alkalies.
SoundMat is designed to improve the sound insulation of pipework and other structures at all frequencies by reducing the transmission of airborne sound. The mat is normally fixed in intimate contact with the original substrate or space layers. Bonded to many different materials it can also be supplied with self adhesive peel of backing. The loaded in the barrier with barium is where the common term Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) comes from or Mineral Loaded Vinyl. General these products are produced to standard thicknesses that result in achieving the required sound reduction. New developments have allowed increases in density to take place while reducing thicknesses of the ned product. Other options are low temperature versions suitable for the arctic used on projects such as YAMAL, and fire safe products. The Fire safe range is designed to meet and exceed higher standards of fire ratings such as AS 1530.3—1999, ISO 3795 and FMVSS 302 widely required in Australia.
Popular uses including LNG, oil processors, music studios, roofing, industrial cladding, pipe warps and ducting. The material is impervious to oils and most chemicals and easy to wipe clean.
Standard roll sizes are 3000mm x 1250mm, 2000 mm x 1250mm other sizes on request.
