In the pipeline
Gas is an essential source of power. From domestic to industrial and everything in between, gas has many thousands of useful applications. An efficient and safe resource, the use of gas is global. The main source of gas in the UK comes from the North Sea. Britain used to get all of its gas from this area and even used to export some, though as supplies have gotten smaller Britain has begun to import around 10% of its requirements. This gas travels across Europe and is linked to mainland UK at Norfolk and a small amount of liquefied gas is also imported via a terminal in Kent, both sites have been supplied with stainless steel by BS Stainless. Extra terminals and pipelines are always being planned: Britain soon expects new links to pipelines from Holland and Norway. Obviously, a great number of people are employed within the varied industries and businesses which rely on gas to function. From a meter reader to an engineer and everyone in between, the amount of jobs and careers available is endless.
The annual Gastech conference serves as a platform to bring this global gas community together. Over a four day period of technical presentations, keynote speeches and panel debates, 120 prominent representatives and speakers will address conference visitors on many gas-related topics. Understanding current and future issues impacting the gas industry to assist in improved future performance and high-level face-to-face networking are prominent features of the conference.
BS Stainless will have a presence at this exciting and important event where we can promote our stainless steel products supplied into this important industry. The gas industry is a large user of stainless steel which is used in the installation and maintenance of many types of machinery. This is an excellent opportunity for us and we look forward to October with pleasure and excitement. The next Gastech exhibition in 18 months time is in South Korea and BS Stainless are planning to attend that event also, hopefully we can meet with some of our local customers.
