Cut-to-Length Stainless Steel Wire and Bar
Stainless steel wire and round bar are both extremely versatile materials, ideal for a wide range of products from hooks to fixings and for all manner of wire forms. Standard, 'off the shelf' sections of wire and bar sold from stock are usually three metres long but these are not suitable for all applications. This length is sometimes too long for a given application and thus result in needless waste of material, as well as wasted time spent cutting to length.
To remedy this situation and further enhance our levels of customer service, BS Stainless invested heavily in state-of-the-art machinery, creating a brand new cut-to-length line at our modern premises in Preston. Our commitment to supporting UK manufacturing and industry saw us work closely with a UK-based company, designing and developing this new custom designed cut-to-length line.
The process begins by loading the coils of the client's chosen grade and type of wire onto the start of the production line. We then input the client's exact length specification into the machinery's control centre. After checking that everything is correct, the automated line begins its work, straightening the wire before cutting the wire to the exact specified length. The result is safe, precision-cut pieces that meet or exceed the tolerances set out in the EN 10088-5 standard.
The standard, bright-drawn stainless steel wire can be cut in our machine with lengths anywhere from just 50mm up to 6,000mm and diameters between 2mm and 8mm. In addition to round wire cut to produce shorter dowel bars we can also pack in specific quantities. If you need something a bit special we can produce a range of shaped wires to order such as star, rectangle or square shapes and clients can choose from any metal grade within our extensive stock range. These can also be cut to the required length.
