The Full Spectrum — PVDF Coloured Stainless Steel

Stainless steel may often be required to have a surface of a particular colour; this may be for a variety of reasons including planning/environmental legislation, thermal efficiency or simply to create or match with a desired aesthetic. Our stainless steel can be supplied in a wide range of colours which, applied using a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) paint system, create a coating that has incredibly strong resistance to corrosion and weathering.

PVDF paints show great colour retention as well as being strongly resistant to chemical attacks, scratching and bending. For this reason, they are used across a wide variety of applications (and on many well-known structures such as the Petronas Towers) such as curtain walls, roofing and insulation jacketing, particularly in the LNG industry. Enhanced thermal efficiency can be achieved by choosing a solar-reflective colouring a popular choice is grey.

To ensure our PVDF paint system is of consistently high quality, it has been extensively and rigorously tested in extreme high and low temperatures; results of these tests show strong resistance to most harsh environments. All coatings adhere strictly to the AAMA 2605.98 test procedure, on with CE marked material at BS Stainless under ISO 9001 management system.

Stainless steel with coloured PVDF coating is made to bespoke order by BS Stainless. As always, we offer a full choice of substrate material from standard 304 and 316 grade to duplex or any other individual requirement; whichever is decided upon, it will be produced according to the ASTM and/or EN 10088 standard and supplied fully primed. A comprehensive selection of colours, which includes exotic and metallic, is available as well as full data sheets which clearly outline all relevant technical details.
