BS Stainless Ltd are extremely proud to announce that we have been named by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) on their 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain list. This list, which aims to celebrate some of the 4.5 million small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that fuel the UK economy, is the result of a project started six months ago by LSEG.
SMEs exist across every sector. The 1,000 companies that have been selected to appear on the list have been described in different ways (gazelle companies by the CBI and the vital 6% by think-tank Nesta) but all have proved to be exceptionally important to economic growth in the wake of the financial crisis. LSEG’s research, which is backed up by the independent findings of many other organisations, showed that these dynamic businesses are the main generators of new job opportunities and have experienced consistent revenue growth for at least the last four years. As well as employee numbers, other factors such as contract wins and increased or improved workspaces were taken into account when selecting the 1,000 UK businesses for the exclusive list.
The list is part of a larger report which examines the positive impact SMEs are having on the UK economy and their importance for its future. Investigating in detail both the opportunities presented by and challenges faced by SMEs, the report also examines the trends and sectors that will shape the economic landscape of the UK in coming years. LSEG believe that SMEs need to be encouraged, nurtured and supported and sets out to achieve these aims in a variety of ways, from media promotion and removing ‘red tape’ barriers to providing access to appropriate financing options.
