Brexit: Our Plans to Protect our Customers

After lengthy delays and a cabinet reshuffle, the UK is due to leave the European Union on 31st October this year. It is still uncertain as to whether it will be a 'no-deal' Brexit but one thing IS clear: every UK business needs to be as ready as possible to minimise any disruption. Here at BS Stainless, we have put many plans into action to ensure that our customers can continue to trade with us after 31st October.

As a company trading on the global stage, BS Stainless already has worldwide procurement firmly in place. Our team have reached out to clients, agreeing on extended contracts. Levels of stock, already impressive, have been further increased: the extra material is being kept in storage on our new mezzanine floor, especially built for that very purpose.

A key part of our work post-Brexit is our dedicated premises near Dusseldorf in Germany, comprising a large warehouse and plenty of office space to accommodate admin staff. BS Stainless is able to secure materials with equal ease from manufacturers based in Europe or elsewhere in the world, ensuring unbroken free trade to our European clients without disruption.

The staff at BS Stainless have had extra training regarding Brexit, provided by our local chamber of commerce of which we are longstanding members. We have taken professional, detailed advice from UKTI and BSSA, as well as liaising directly with our extensive network of international freight companies.

When it comes to finances, we have accounts with HMRC for VAT deferment and duties, ensuring we are well placed and ready to deal quickly and professionally with any eventuality. Both the BS Stainless website and that of our online trading platform BS Fixings will be constantly updated to ensure the latest, most relevant information is available and that export transactions can continue without any delays.
