Around 60% of spot, MIG and TIG welding is now carried out by robots. Robotic welding, though introduced in the 1960s, did not begin to gain popularity until twenty years later when spot-welding robots became commonplace in the automotive industry. As prices drop, other industries are beginning to embrace robotic welding technology as a solution for medium to high production needs.
